ISLAMABAD, Oct 22 (KUNA) -- While stressing on the need for enhanced bilateral cooperation in the war against terrorism, Pakistan and Afghanistan Wednesday said that peace talks will only be held with those who lay arms for peace.
Afghan and Pakistani Foreign Ministers met here to discuss war against terrorism, extremism and other issues related to bilateral relations as well as the region.
Later, addressing a joint press conference, the two foreign ministers urged to strengthen their cooperation in the war against terrorism for peace in the region.
Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that Pakistan wanted good and friendly relations with Afghanistan. He said President Asif Ali Zardari would visit Afghanistan by the year's end.
His Afghan counterpart, Rangin Dadfur Spanta, termed terrorism a main challenge for the two countries and said that there was a dire need to make the region peaceful.
He underlined the need to hold peace dialogue with tribal people and said that Afghanistan was ready to hold dialogue with all those who lay down arms for peace in the country.
Nobody in Afghanistan would be allowed to disturb peace in Pakistan, he added.
Afghan Minister said that agenda had been finalized for the Pak-Afghan grand Jirga that would focus on finding ways and means to ensure peace in the two countries. (end) amn.tg KUNA 221418 Oct 08NNNN
