NEW DELHI, July 16 (KUNA) -- Sri Lankan Army Wednesday captured a key LTTE-held town in the country's northern region, where 45 rebels have been killed in different clashes.
The Army today captured the strategically important Vidattaltivu town in the Mannar region, Sri Lankan Defence Ministry said in a statement at Colombo today.
As many as 30 rebels were killed in the battle for capturing the rebel town, the Ministry said.
As many as 14 rebels were killed in Vavuniya and one in Jaffna, Sri Lanka's Media Centre for National Security said today. (end) dr.bs KUNA 162256 Jul 08NNNN
