NEW DELHI, June 19 (KUNA) -- At least 21 rebels of the Liberation Tigers of
Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and two Sri Lankan soldiers have been killed in fresh
clashes in Northern Sri Lanka.
While one LTTE rebel was killed in Eastern Trincomalee, two others were
killed in North-western Mannar yesterday, Sri Lankas Media Centre for
National Security (MCNS) said Thursday at Colombo.
At least five LTTE cadres were killed in Chirandikulam area in Vavuniya
yesterday, the MCNS said, adding one rebel was killed in Kovilpuliyakulam.
Two LTTE cadres and one soldier were killed in Janakapura in North-eastern
Welioya yesterday.
One LTTE cadre was also gunned down in Kiribbanwewa in Welioya yesterday.
As many as seven LTTE cadres were killed in the Welioya region in different
clashes yesterday.
Another trooper was killed in Periyamadu in Vavuniya yesterday, Sri Lankan
Defence Ministry said today in a statement at Colombo.
Two LTTE cadres were killed in Parappakadaththan in North-western Mannar
yesterday, the Defence Ministry said. (end)
