NEW DELHI, May 21 (KUNA) -- At least 60 rebels of the Liberation Tigers of
Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and two security personnel have been killed in fresh
clashes in Northern Sri Lanka.
At least one LTTE rebel was killed in Vediyamurippu in north-western Mannar
yesterday, Sri Lanka's Media Centre for National Security (MCNS) said
Wednesday.
A security personnel was gunned down in Buttala-Kattargama road in
south-eastern Sri Lanka yesterday.
At least four LTTE cadres were killed in Nadunkani in Vavuniya yesterday,
the MCNS said, adding three more LTTE rebels were gunned down in
Thunnikddukulam area in the region yesterday.
At least 14 rebels were killed at Periyamadu in Vavuniya yesterday.
At least 10 LTTE rebels were killed yesterday at Mundimurripu in Vavuniya.
As many as eight tiger rebels were gunned down in North-eastern Welioya
yesterday, the MCNS said.
A security personnel was killed by suspected LTTE cadres in north-central
Sri Lanka.
At least three LTTE rebels were killed at Kuhankankulam, Paliyandankulam,
Kuttankulam, and North Janakapura in Welioya yesterday, Sri Lankan Defence
Ministry said today.
At least 17 LTTE cadres were reportedly killed in Vavuniya yesterday, the
Ministry said. (end)
