BAGHDAD, May 3 (KUNA) -- The U.S. army in Iraq reported on Saturday that its troops and Iraqi forces bombed and destroyed today a centre for the leadership of the armed militias in Sadr City, north-east of the Iraqi capital Baghdad.
A statement by the US army said that the joint forces shelled at 10:00 a.m. this morning the headquarters for command and control of the militias using precision-guided munitions.
The statement disclosed that intelligence reports indicated that the target was the headquarters center for command and control and was used by armed elements for planning and coordinating attacks against Iraqi and coalition security forces and Iraqi citizens.
