BAGHDAD, May 3 (KUNA) -- The U.S. army in Iraq reported on Saturday that
its troops and Iraqi forces bombed and destroyed today a centre for the
leadership of the armed militias in Sadr City, north-east of the Iraqi capital
Baghdad.
A statement by the US army said that the joint forces shelled at 10:00 a.m.
this morning the headquarters for command and control of the militias using
precision-guided munitions.
The statement disclosed that intelligence reports indicated that the target
was the headquarters center for command and control and was used by armed
elements for planning and coordinating attacks against Iraqi and coalition
security forces and Iraqi citizens.
The statement did not reveal whether gunmen were inside the building during
the shelling or whether there were casualties. (end)
