NEW DELHI, March 24 (KUNA) -- As many as five insurgents of three rebel outfits have surrendered in Indias Northeastern state of Tripura, bordering Bangladesh. A top insurgent of outlawed All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) Tapan Debbarma surrendered in West Tripura district last night and deposited one Chinesemade pistol and a grenade, news agency Press Trust of India reported Monday, quoting a state police official. In a separate incident, two insurgents of banned National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) surrendered in the Kanchanpur sub-division of North Tripura district last night, the official said. Two insurgents of Borok National Council of Tripura group, surrendered to police in the North Tripura district also last night, the official added. ATTF and NLFT are two key rebel groups of Tripura. However, over the past five years, insurgency has been on wane in the state, following sustained counter-insurgency operations and massive surrenders.
