NEW DELHI, Feb 21 (KUNA) -- At least 92 rebels of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and three soldiers have beem killed in Sri Lanka's battle fatigued Northern region as the Army laucnhed major offensive against the outlawed group.
Sri Lankan Air Force Thursday targeted the LTTE strongholds of Mannar and Mullaitivu to assist the ground attack, news agency Press Trust of India reported.
The Sri Lankan Army has obtained control of the areas near Adampan in North-western Mannar, the Defence Ministry said in a statement at Colombo today. (pickup previous) dr.bs KUNA 212328 Feb 08NNNN
