ISLAMABAD, Feb 1 (KUNA) -- The bodies of militants killed in a missile
strike in North Waziristan tribal agency were buried, and it is impossible to
confirm or deny whether a top Al-Qaeda militant was killed in the incident,
said the army Friday.
We have no information as to who fired the missile, from where it was fired
and how many people were killed in the strike, military spokesman Ather Abbas
told KUNA.
He said the bodies of dead people were immediately were buried and it was
impossible to confirm the death of leading Al-Qaeda operative, Abu Laith
Al-Qassimi Al-Libi, among the killed militants.
A suspected US missile struck on a house in North Waziristan Monday night
and killed 12 militants and three civilians. Earlier, tribal sources confirmed
the killed militants were staying in the house for a few days, saying they
were of Arab and Central Asian origins.
An Islamist website monitored by the US-based service, SITE, announced
Thursday that Abu Laith Al-Qassimi Al-Libi, a Libyan Al-Qaeda operative and
close aide of Osama Bin Laden, was killed in the strike. (end)
