DOHA, Jan 23 (KUNA) -- Under aegis of Qatari Amir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa
Al-Thani the Islamic Art Museum will be opened on November 22, acting
executive chairman of the Qatar Museum Authority (QMA) Abdullah Al-Najjar said
here Wednesday.
The museum is one of the leading cultural projects on the Arab and Islamic
arenas as well as the world level, Al-Najjar told reporters.
The project place Qatar in the forefront of cultural activities and turn
Doha into capital of Middle East culture and minaret of world arts, he pointed
out.
The museum is a wonderful architectural work of art on an area of 35,500
square meters on an artificial island 60 meters away from Doha beach, he noted.
It consists of five-storey building and a two-storey educational suite and
a yard between them.
The exhibits were gathered from three continents and date back to the
seventh century, Al-Najjar disclosed.
A visitor of the museum, whether youngsters or adults, will be able to
journey through time and recognize the different stages and nature of the
Islamic art, he added. (end)
