SANAA, Jan 18 (KUNA) -- Two Belgian female tourists and a Yemeni driver
died in the southern province of Hadramut when gunmen opened fire on a tourist
convoy of few cars on Friday.
Local sources told KUNA that the incident took place near the city of
Hajrin of Hadramut, a tourist attraction area.
The attack occurred after the Friday noon prayer on the main road leading
to the province, when masked gunmen on board a truck intercepted the convoy
and opened indiscriminate fire on the tourists. Few people were injured in the
attack, the sources said.
Hadramut Governor ordered airlift for the injured people to Sanaa, the
sources said.
This is the first incident after a group of eight Spanish tourists and two
Yemeni drivers were killed in an attack in Maarib East of Sanaa last year.
