DAKAR, Jan 11 (KUNA) -- A Kuwaiti delegation headed by Chairman of the
National House of Kuwait Professor Yousif al-Amiri is visiting here for the
purpose of the implementation of a twinning agreement, which was signed
between the House and the Museum of Armed Forces of Senegal two years ago.
The delegation visited the Kuwaiti Embassy here where al-Amiri told KUNA
that "Implementation of the agreement is currently being undertaken under the
instructions of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad
Al-Sabah, and in coordination with the Senegalese Ambassador to Kuwait
Abdul-Ahad Mbaki, who played a major role in the rapprochement between Kuwait
and Senegal."
Al-Amiri added: "Because of the special relations between the two
countries, His Highness the Prime Minister told us to start twinning with
Senegal although Kuwait seeks twinning with three other countries: South
Africa, Italy, and Pakistan."
He said: "During the first visit to the Republic of Senegal His Excellency
President Abdoulaye Wade graciously honored us with the Medal of the Republic.
"On this second visit to this brotherly country we will meet the Prime
Minister of Senegal, His Excellency the Minister of Defence, the Chief of
Staff and Commander of the Senegalese army."
The Kuwaiti wing, which will be opened at the Museum of Senegal, will be
the second home of Kuwait in this country, along with the Embassy of Kuwait,
he said.
The opening of this wing will coincide with the Organization of the Islamic
Conference's summit to be held in Dakar in March 2008, he said.
He pointed out that Prime Minsiter Sheikh Nasser is supportive of the
National House of Kuwait for continuing to carry the message aimed at
promoting to the world a correct image of Kuwait, its culture, history, and
heritage.
On his part, the Ambassador of Kuwait to Senegal Mohammed Saleh al-Thuwaikh
said: "I am very happy to receive people of Kuwait today in the House of
Kuwait and I am very excited to witness this rapprochement and cooperation
between the two brotherly countries in various fields. (end)
