ROME, Nov 8 (KUNA) -- Defense Minister Arturo Parisi said Thursday the Italian forces should remain in Afghanistan because of the recent deterioration of security in the war-torn country.
"We are in a difficult situation because the deterioration of conditions is imposing more troubles," Parisi said in a radio statement over the peacekeeping missions in Lebanon, Kosovo and Afghanistan.
The fact the security is deterioration, he said, compels Italy to keep its forces in peacekeeping missions.
More than 2,200 Italian forces are deployed in Afghanistan's capital, Kabul, and Herat, said Parisi, with a "support" role. (end) mn.bs KUNA 082307 Nov 07NNNN
