BAGHDAD, Oct 9 (KUNA) -- Unknown gunmen have assassinated the head of the Shiite Waqf authority in the Baghdad area of Al-Rasafah, police said on Tuesday.
A police source, who asked to withhold his name, told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that Sheikh Ibrahim Abdel Karim was targetted with a hail of gunfire while riding in his car in Baghdad Al-Jedidah district. He died instantly.
Elsewhere, police reported that one civilian lost his life and 11 others suffered injuries in two bomb blast, early today, in Diyala south of Baghdad. (end) mhg.rk KUNA 091308 Oct 07NNNN
