LONDON, Sept 21 (KUNA) -- A man plunged to his death from the 19th floor of
a fashionable hotel in central London Friday after a three-hour stand-off,
police said.
Police negotiators were unable to prevent the man, in his 20s, falling from
the Hilton Hotel, in Park Lane.
Emergency services were called to the hotel to reports of a man standing on
a ledge early this morning.
Paramedics attended the man when he landed on the flat roof of a
second-floor building.
A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said he was pronounced dead a short time
later. A post-mortem examination will take place later today.
She added that negotiators spoke to the man from an adjacent balcony and
through the room door prior to his fall. They did not enter the hotel room.
A cordon was set up around the scene of the incident, but Park Lane
remained open to traffic.
No details of the mans identity or the reason for his fall have been given
by the police. (end)
