MOSCOW, Sept 18 (KUNA) -- Russian Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov said Tuesday Defense Minister Anatoliy Eduardovich Serdyukov had resigned.
Speaking on national television, the prime minister said the minister had "tendered his resignation to President Vladimir Putin." But the prime minister failed to give any detail on the reasons for the resignation.
Zubkov had been in office for six months only.
Observers believe the president could give a military man the post after it was in the hands of two civilians in a row. (end) KUNA 182107 Sep 07NNNN
