ALGIERS, July 20 (KUNA) -- Algerian troops eliminated 18 gunmen belonging to al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb throughout the country, an Algerian security source said on Friday.
The troops managed to kill 11 armed men in an area of Tizi Ouzou district (63 Kilometers east of Algiers), as a result of a combing operation that the troops were conducting since Saturday of this week, the source said.
The troops also arrested eight more gunmen and seized their weapons during the operation, the source added.
Furthermore, an outlawed military training camp was found and completely demolished by the troops, according to the source.
To that, three terrorists were killed in Tipasa district (73 kilometers west of Algiers), as the Algerian army also killed four terrorists in the province of Boumedras (53 kilometers east of Algiers), including Abu-Hamza; a senior leader at al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb.
