DAMASCUS, July 3 (KUNA) -- A government-run newspaper anticipated in an
editorial published on Tuesday an Israeli military offensive on the Arab
country.
"Al-Thawra," the mouthpiece of the ruling Baath Party, said, "None of us
doubts that Israel implies hostile intentions, thus we predict launching of a
war any time."
"This is an all-time forecast for we know that Israel is fond of wars and
has been established on war-oriented themes," the government-owned daily
newspaper said, in an article that coincided with reported fresh Israeli
military drills on the Syrian Golan Heights, occupied by Tel Aviv since 1967.
Israel, that suffered a defeat during the war in Lebanon last July, was
plotting a new war "to wash off the disgrace," Al-Thawra wrote. (end)
