DOHA, May 17 (KUNA) -- Under aegis of Qatari Amir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy and Industry Abdullah Bin-Hamad Al-Attiyah will distribute the State's Order of Merit (OM) awards among intellectuals this Sunday at Qatar's National Theater.
The Qatari National Council for Culture, Arts and Heritage invited dozens of intellectuals and organizers of cultural awards from the Arabian Gulf and other Arab countries to attend the event.
Among the winners of Qatar's first OM are Dr. Johayna Sultan Al-Issa in the field of sociology, Mubarak Bin Saif Al-Thani in poetry, Jassem Zeini in plastic arts, Abdul-Aziz Nasser in music, Abdul-Rahman Al-Manaei in theater.
The names of laureates were announced in March on the fringe of Sixth Doha Cultural Festival.
The value of the biannual OM amounts to 25,000 Qatari riyals (a US dollar equals 3.64 Qatari riyals) along with a gold medal. (end) att.gb.
