UAE, OECD sign MoU to develop network of cooperation
DUBAI, April 5 (KUNA) -- The United ARab Emirates (UAE) and the
Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) signed on
Thursday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop the network of
cooperation between them in the area of tax treaties in the Middle East and
North Africa.
The MoU demands the two parties to run a three-year program aimed at
gathering all the experiences and expertise of countries in the Middle East
and North Africa regions in the area of tax treaties and related issues.
Khalid Al Bustani, Assistant Under Secretary for Revenue and Budget
Affairs, signed the agreement for the ministry, while Jeffrey Owens Head of
Taxation Policy and Administration - OECD, also signed for his side during a
short ceremony held at the Finance Ministry's premises here in Dubai.
The program include a series of forums and scientific activities aimed at
increasing awareness on the significance of tax treaties and its role in
boosting economic development. The programmes takes-off next autumn with Dubai
hosting the first annual forum which would discuss, among other issues, the
interpretation, implementation and practising of tax treaties.(end)
