Kuwait's Qadsiya club to host Asian water polo tournament By Bader Al-Sulaihim KUWAIT, April 2 (KUNA) -- Qadsiya club will host next Friday the fifth Asian water polo champions' league tournament which will be held in Abdullah Al-Salem swimming pool.
Chairman of the tournament's organizing committee Hassan Abul-Hassan told KUNA Monday competitions would last until April 10h with clubs from Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait participating in the tournament.
The clubs would be divided into two groups, stated Abul-Hassan, pointing out that the first and second team from each group would qualify to the semi-final rounds.
Regarding his expectations, the Kuwaiti official said that the road to the final would be intense becuase professional players were allowed to participate in the tournament, a step unprecedented.
Meanwhile, the committee's Vice Chairman Tareq Al-Fadhel revealed that the water polo championship has been revived after a five-year hiatus, adding that Asia's qualification rounds for the water polo world cup to be held in Indonesia affect participation in Asian champions' league tournament.
Kuwait's water polo champions Qadsiya, third place in the 2001 Asian tournament held in Thailand, will represent the country alongside Al-Arabi club. (end) bsh.ws.gta KUNA 022106 Apr 07NNNN
