KUN0057 4 GEN 0369 FRANCE /AFP -HMJ8 MDA-LEBANON-KUWAIT-KUNA Sheikh Mubarak calls for activating Kuwaiti-Lebanese media cooperation (By Omar Al-Halabi) (With photos) BEIRUT, Nov 14 (KUNA) -- President of the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA) and Chairman of the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij Al-Ibrahim Al-Sabah on Tuesday called for the activation of media cooperation between KUNA and the Lebanese National News Agency. This came in a statement by Sheikh Mubarak to reporters following his meeting today with the Lebanese Information Ghazi Al-Aridhi. He said the meeting with Al-Aridhi was a good opportunity to discuss the ongoing media cooperation between the two news agencies especially as this is his first visit to Lebanon since he became Chairman of KUNA. Sheikh Mubarak said he hopes this cooperation with the Lebanese agency would contribute in the signing of more agreements for the sake of boosting the joint media action. Sheikh Mubarak is heading Kuwait's delegation to the FANA's 34th general assembly meeting. Kuwait is the current chairman. On his part, Al-Aridhi praised efforts exerted by Sheikh Mubarak during his recent post as head of the foreign media at the Information Ministry in addition to his current work in KUNA. He also thanked Sheikh Mubarak for his efforts in boosting ties between Kuwait and Lebanon especially in the media spheres. Al-Aridhi described the general assembly meeting of FANA as "successful", saying that the topics that were discussed during the meeting formed a basis for cooperation at the international and Mediterranean level which would be held soon. Al-Aridhi praised the initiative of Sheikh Mubarak of awarding a prize for the best photo, adding that the prize went to the Lebanese photographer who was killed as martyr during the recent Israeli war on Lebanon, Layal Najib. He added there would be coordination with Sheikh Mubarak to award the prize for Najib's family in her home town Tripoli. Later in the day, Sheikh Mubarak and his accompanying delegation met with the Director of the Lebanese national News Agency Andre Qassas and discussed with him means of boosting media relations between the two agencies.
