Kuwait in support of Lebanon in all spheres -- says Sheikha Firyal Al-Sabah

BEIRUT, Sept 13 (KUNA) -- President of the Kuwaiti Joint Committee for the
Support of the Lebanese people Sheikha Firyal Salman al-Sabah on Wednesday
said that the Kuwaiti government and people would never hesitate in offering
all sorts of assistance to the Lebanese people to help cope with repercussions
of Israeli war.
Sheikha Firyal recalled to KUNA, following her meeting with Lebanese Prime
Minister Fuad Seniora and a number of senior Lebanese officials, the
establishment of Al-Nabatiya government hospital that was made a reality by
the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) in 1996 which is
specialized in the treatment of chronic diseases.
She praised the efforts exerted by the Kuwaiti ambassador to Lebanon Ali
Al-Saeed in elaborating about this project.
Sheikha Firyal pointed out that the cooperative societies in Kuwait had
collected contributions to offer 10,000 school bags to Lebanese students of
the elementary and intermediate stages.
She added that the bags would reach the students before the new schooling
year starts.
She hailed the big role played by the wife of parliament Speaker Randa
Berry in the field of charitable work to serve her country.
She said that nearly 28 Lebanese charitable organizations were benefiting
from the Kuwaiti Joint Committee for the Support of the Lebanese People.
On her part, Randa Berry asserted that the swift Kuwaiti donations had
assisted the Lebanese people in stand defiant against the Israeli aggression.
She added that Sheikha Firyal has come to Lebanon heading a noble
delegation from the committee to assist her country rebuild.
A committee delegation had visited Lebanon following the cessation of
military operations to inspect and assess the humanitarian situation and to
listen closely to the immediate needs of the Lebanese people. (end)
