KUN0066 4 GEN 0233 FRANCE /AFP -MVR3 POL-LD QATAR-EGYPT Mubarak, Amir of Qatar discuss ties, Palestine, Iraq DOHA, Feb 27 (KUNA) -- During talks at the Al-Wajba Palace north of Doha on Monday visting Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and the Amir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani discussed the existing bilateral relations and developments of the situation in Iraq and Palestine. Qatar's First Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Hamad Bin Jasim Bin Jabir Al-Thani, Minister of Economy and Trade Sheikh Mohammed Bin Ahmad Al-Thani, Head of the Radio and Television Public authority Sheikh Hamad Bin Thamer Al-Thani, Chief of the Amiri Diwan Sheikh Abdelrahman Bin Saud Al-Thani, Deputy Chief of the State Security Apparateus Mohammed Al-Misnad as well as Qatar's Ambassador in Cairo Mohammed Bin Ahmad Al-Thani attended the meeting on the Qatari side. On the Egyptian side, Foreign Minister Ahmed Abulghait, Minister of Information Anas Al Faaqqi, Director of the Intelligence Omar Sulaiman, Minister of Industry and Commerce Rashid Rashid, Ambassador to Qatar Mohammad Ahdi Khayrat were present Qatar's Amir later on hosted a luncheon in honor of Mubarak and the accompanying delegation. Mubarak arrived in Doha earlier today on a short three-hour visit as part of his current Gulf tour. Mubarak visited the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain yesterday. The Amir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad Al-Thani and Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak called for continuing the financial support for the Palestinian people. They said in statements to reporters following their summit talks that all parties should be committed to the peace process in the Middle East. Sheikh Hamad said Hamas came to power through elections, which he described as one of the fairest elections in the Arab world. The Qatari Amir called for supporting Hamas financially. He said Doha would continue its humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people, in addition to domains of industry, services and social care. Mubarak, meanwhile, said the financial support was "directed to the Palestinian people not the leadership." He said he informed the Europeans, Americans and Israelis about this fact. On the Iranian-Russian nuclear deal, both leaders hoped the initial agreement would be a beginning for solving the Iranian nuclear file. "We are looking forward for a solution but obviously the Iranians are proceeding with their project," said Sheikh Hamad. Both leaders said they were awaiting the final outcome of this agreement.
