China's chief delegate on N. Korea nuke talks visits Pyongyang
TOKYO, Aug 27 (KUNA) -- China's chief delegate to the six-way talks on
North Korea's nuclear programs left Beijing for Pyongyang Saturday on a
four-day visit ahead of the expected resumption of the talks, China's official
media said.
Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Wu Dawei will discuss with North Korean
officials ways to improve bilateral relations and the nuclear disarmament
talks, Xinhua News Agency said.
Wu, also the Chinese delegation head to the fourth round of the six-party
talks, indicated during a visit to Tokyo on Thursday that the stalled talks
would resume on September 2.
Earlier this month in Beijing, the six-party talks, involving China, North
and South Korea, the US, Russia and Japan, entered a three-week recess after
the six nations failed to adopt a joint document aimed at denuclearizing the
Korean Peninsula.
All the parties agreed to resume the talks in the week beginning from
August 29, but no specific date has been set yet.(end)
