MTC seeks international scope in age of speed - Ahmadi
AMMAN, June 11 (KUNA) -- In an age where the fastest, not the biggest,
rules, Mobile Telecommunications Company is seeking to expand its
international operations' scope and would most probably cover the entire Arab
region soon, MTC Mobile Phone Project Director Marwan Al-Ahmadi told KUNA
Friday.
Al-Ahmadi stressed the company completed the first phase of its plan in 14
months instead of the allotted three years. He added MTC and 10 specialized
unions had requested permit to provide mobile services in Saudi Arabia and MTC
stands a very good chance to land this opportunity.
MTC, he explained, can provide Saudi customers with advantages of its over
20 years of experience in the region and services covering Kuwait, Jordan,
Bahrain, Lebanon and Iraq. Customers in these states would get better priced
and better operated and more inclusive services, he added.
MTC also has the edge of knowing the characteristics of the Arab
communities where it offers its services and can incorporate that with its
overall experience in communications when offering new services and drawing
strategies.
"our knowledge of the needs and circumstance of Arab and Gulf customers
enables us to adapt our services to their best advantage and convenience, and
that applies to the Saudi market."
On operation in Lebanon, Al-Ahmadi said it is too soon to judge the success
of this experience as it is fairly short but said the company is very hopeful
in view of the Lebanese people and government's trust in giving the contract
to MTC.
-- On MTC regional and international expansion plans and slogans, he
said the company accomplished a great deal in this respect. MTC realizes that
this is not an easy goal but also realizes we are living in the age where the
fastest, not the biggest, holds advantage, Al-Ahmadi added.
On MTC sponsoring of the Media and Telecommunications Convergence
Conference in Amman June 10-11, he said this is in an effort to join Arab
expertise in this field and reap the positive outcome, whether communications
or media corporations, and whether service providers or customers.
It is of great good to gather the experts in one place over two days and
the next step is to incorporate and implement the expertise and know-how we
acquired into our services, Al-Ahmadi said.
Al-Ahmadi is in Jordan to represent MTC at the " Media and
Telecommunications Convergence Conference" which it co-sponsors with Jordan's
Fastlink with 300 experts and 100 corporations taking part. (end)
