Palestinian Prime Minister holds talks with Mubarak
CAIRO, July 21 (KUNA) -- Palestinian Prime Minister Mahmud Abbas (Abu
Mazen), who arrived here on Monday, held talks shortly after arrival with
Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak on Palestinian affairs, Cairo Radio said.
The radio station the two sides were also discussing prospected revival of
the Egyptian-Palestinian joint commiytee, boosting mutual cooperation in
economic, security and educational fields.
Abbas was also informing Mubarak about results of his recent meeting with
Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.
The radio said the meeting was attended by Mohammed Dahlan, the Palestinian
Authority's administrator for internal security, the Palestinian ambassador in
Cairo, Zahdi Al-Qaddoura, and Egyptian Foreign Ministr Ahmad Maher.
A Palestinian political source told KUNA earlier today that the Palestinian
side was depending on the role Egypt could play to implement the so-called
road map, a plan that envisages establishment of an independent Palestinian
state by 2005.
The plan has been drawn up by the quartet that groups the US, the UN,
Russia and the EU. (end)
