KUWAIT, Nov 18 (KUNA) -- The first issue of the "Awan" newspaper was
launched on Sunday with Mohammad Al-Rumihi editor-in-chief.
Awan, the fifth local paper to be issued since the approval of the
Publications Law earlier this year and also Kuwait's tenth daily, covers
political, economic, social affairs and sports.
In the editorial of the first issue, Al-Rumihi said that in the 21st
century, the media and the press have to assume "social responsibility and
professionally take the side of the truth."
He added that Awan opened its doors for Kuwaiti youth to receive training
for the sake of creating "a professional generation of journalists."
The political independent daily covers local politics, local and regional
economy, local and international arts and culture.
A whole page is allocated in Awan for non-Kuwaitis in the country under
"Awan Communities."
