By Sara Al-Mukhaizeem KUWAIT, Feb 1 (KUNA) -- Under the patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Kuwait is marking the beginning of its National Day celebrations with a flag-raising ceremony on Sunday.
The annual ceremony reflects deep pride national and joy, as Kuwait commemorates the 65th anniversary of its National Day and 35th anniversary of Liberation Day, honoring the country's history and achievements.
The occasion underscores the leadership's commitment to reinforce unity as the foundation for continued progress and developments.
Kuwait's flag has undergone several stages before its current form was officially adopted following a decree issued by the late Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah in 1961, the flag was first raised on government buildings on November 24 of that year.
On this occasion, flag-raising ceremonies will take place across Kuwait's six governorates amid festive atmospheres, alongside nationwide activities and events.
The country will reflect on its achievements on both the regional and international levels, events will also pay tribute to Kuwait's independence and the sacrifices made during its liberation from Iraqi invasion in 1990, honoring those who contributed to the country's liberation. (end) sm.sar
