Somalis protest at Israeli occupation recognition of Somaliland

CAIRO, Jan 11 (KUNA) -- Thousands of Somalis staged a mass demonstration at the Unknown Soldier Memorial in Mogadishu on Sunday in protest against the transgression by the Israeli occupation authorities on the sovereignty and unity of Somalia.
The protesters raised placards and chanted slogans, rejecting the Israeli occupation recognition of Somaliland region as an independent state and stressing that the northern region is an integral part of Somalia.
The protesters affirmed that they stand by their federal government in whatever steps it might take to protect the sovereignty and unity of the country.
The infamous declaration by the Israeli occupation authorities of recognition of the so-called Somaliland on December 26, 2025, drew condemnation from governments and organizations around the globe.
During their meeting in Jeddah on Saturday, the foreign ministers of the 57-member Organization of Islamic Cooperation strongly condemned the Israeli occupation move, and stated support to the government and people of the Federal Republic of Somalia. (end) asm.gb
