GCC chief tackles bolstering relations with Japan

RIYADH, Dec 21 (KUNA) -- The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jassem Al-Budaiwi tackled Sunda, with the Director-General of the Middle East and Africa Bureau at the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Keiichi Iwamoto, GCC-Japan relations and ways to enhance them.
In a statement, the GCC Secretariat General said that the two sides also discussed the latest developments regarding the free trade agreement between them, which will contribute to supporting the strategic partnership between the GCC and Japan, and achieving the common interests of the two sides.
Both sides also affirmed their shared commitment to continuing coordination and consultation, strengthening communication channels, and pushing Gulf-Japan relations towards broader horizons.
The two sides also discussed the latest developments and issues in the region.
The Secretary-General commended Japan's efforts in supporting and enhancing relief and humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people in Gaza Strip. (end) kns.mb
