KUWAIT, Nov 13 (KUNA) -- The Kuwait-UK relations are rich, with a historic legacy of over more than 125 years the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Ambassador to the country Qudsi Rasheed said on Thursday.
The ambassador made the statement during a speech in a ceremony held at the British embassy to mark the birthday of King Charles II, in the presence of Kuwait's Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Al-Yahya, senior officials, and a galaxy of heads of diplomatic missions, international organizations and dignitaries.
Rasheed commended the depth of relations between the two friendly countries, appreciating the warm reception he and his family received when they arrived in Kuwait to start his mission.
Trade ties between the two sides trace back to 250 years, when the British ship reached the Gulf to establish one of the oldest economic partnerships between Europe and the region, he noted.
Several British companies are pursuing investments and working in Kuwait in a manner that enhances historic partnership, he pointed out.
Rasheed further noted the presence of thousands of Kuwaitis studying in Britain; another example of deep-rooted, human bond between the two countries.
The spirit of partnership and mutual abidance have perserved the Kuwait-UK relations, thus pushing both countries toward a future of common opportunities, Rasheed concluded. (end)
