BEIJING, Nov 7 (KUNA) -- China declared on Friday official commissioning of the first aircraft carrier equipped with electromagnetic catapults, bringing number of Beijing's fleet of the gigantic plane-carrier vessels to three.
The official Chinese news agency, Xinhua, said the new advanced aircraft was inaugurated at a flag-flying ceremony, attended by President Xi Jinping in the port of the southern city of Sanya, held on Wednesday.
The new aircraft carrier, Fujian, floated in June 2022, is the third to be built by Beijing after the two large vessels of the same type, Liaoning and Shandong.
Xinhua said the newly released aircraft carrier can bear various types of warplanes including the Chinese jets J-25 and J-15-T as well as the early warning plane, KJ-600. (end)
