US, Central Asia to strengthen relations

WASHINGTON, Nov 7 (KUNA) -- US President Donald Trump vowed to strengthen ties with Central Asia.
In a speech after meetings with leaders of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan late Thursday, Trump said that the meetings held in the White House's Oval Office were fruitful.
He added that the US aims to boost relations with this "very important part of the universe." "We're strengthening our economic partnerships, improving our security cooperation and expanding our overall bonds. Tremendous amounts of trade was done just in the last little while," he noted.
"Lots of great products, military products and otherwise are being bought from the United States," he said "These nations were once home to the ancient Silk Road connecting east and west -- great history, tremendous, beautiful history. Today, their location in the heart of Eurasia gives them incredible importance and unbelievable potential," Trump added. (end) asj.ag
