The Kuwaiti Cabinet
KUWAIT, Oct 7 (KUNA) -- The Kuwaiti Cabinet called on the Ministry of Health, along some government bodies, to prepare the initial plans of Sabah Al-Ahmad and Mutlaa Medical Cities, in line with global standards to offer the best healthcare services.
This was announced during the weekly Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday at Bayan Palace under the presidency of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
The Cabinet saw a visual presentation submitted by Minister of Health Dr. Ahmad Al-Awadhi on the two cities' projects, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Abdullah Al-Yahya said in a statement after the meeting.
Sabah Al-Ahmad Medical City aims to offer services to the residents of the areas of Sabah Al-Ahmad, Wafra, Khairan and others, while Mutlaa serves the parts of Sabriya, Nawaf Al-Ahmad and more, Al-Yahya added.
The two medical cities include stablishing some facilities and two hospitals of 500 beds for each, in addition to dental clinics, doctors and nurses' housing, outpatients clinics, physical therapy and medical rehabilitation centers, medical warehouses and storage areas, dialysis units, and blood transfusion services.
The minister stressed keenness to boost the efficiency of the healthcare system, improve service quality, and develop comprehensive care.
The two projects align with Kuwait's Vision 2035 that aim to achieve equitable and accessible of healthcare services across all governorates.
Meanwhile, His Highness the Prime Minister told the meeting about the meetings' results of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah with CEO of Goldman Sachs David Solomon on Monday.
During the meetings, it was confirmed that Kuwait is keen on expanding investment horizons and boosting competitiveness of entrepreneurship and building strategic partnerships with global firms in a manner that contributes to transferring expertise, techniques.
His Highness the Prime Minister also briefed the ministers on his meeting with Managing Director of International Monterey Fund Kristalina Georgieva last Thursday during which they discussed means of boosting collaboration between both sides and benefiting from international experience in addressing economic imbalances, achieving fiscal reforms, managing financial policies, and diversifying income sources.
Furthermore, Minister Al-Yahya informed the Cabinet about the outcome of the 29th GCC-EU joint ministerial meeting hosted by Kuwait on Monday, in the presence of foreign ministers and senior officials from both sides, along GCC Secretary General Jassem Al-Budaiwi, and High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, Kaja Kallas.
Al-Yahya told the Cabinet about the gist of the meeting's final statement, which has some points topped with the assertion of Iraq's commitment to Kuwait's sovereignty and respecting international deals under the UN Security Council resolutions mainly the 833 as well as the call for completing the boundary demarcation beyond 162 mark and implementing Khor Abdullah deal signed in 2012.
Additionally, Director General of the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority Sheikh Dr. Meshal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah presented a visual presentation on the full periodical report of the committee on promoting entrepreneurship environment and boosting competitiveness in Kuwait and concerned government bodies.
The Cabinet also discussed political affairs in light of the current developments on international and Arab arenas.
It congratulated Egypt's President Abdelfatth Al-Sisi on the 52nd anniversary of the glorious October Victory, recalling proudly the heroism made by Egypt's Armed Forces and the martyrs who scarified their souls for their homeland.
The Cabinet also highlighted the eternal epic that embodied the deep-rooted relations between Kuwait and Egypt during that battle.
It finally approved the meeting minutes of the Supreme Committee for Citizenship Investigation that included the loss and withdrawal of the Kuwaiti nationality of some persons, under Law No. 15 of 1959. (end)
