TUNIS, Oct 7 (KUNA) -- The Arab League of Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) praised on Tuesday Egyptian candidate Dr. Khaled El-Enani in being appointed as the new Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
Director General of ALECSO Mohammed Ould Omar extended his congratulations to Dr. El-Enani praising his well-deserved victory over UNESCO's Executive Board, which represents a new record of Arab contributions to culture and humanity, stated the organization.
Dr. Khaled El-Enani was elected on October 6 to the position of Director-General of UNESCO after receiving 55 votes compared to only two votes for his Congolese competitor, Firmin Matoko, which confirms the high international esteem he enjoys in the fields of education, culture, and science. (end)
