International Islamic Charity Organization implements 64 projects for orphan families in Yemen
KUWAIT, Aug 14 (KUNA) -- The International Islamic Charity Organization (IICO) implemented the fifth phase of its "Lawful Earning" (Kasb Tayeb) program for orphans, which included 64 projects benefiting 384 orphans and their families in several Yemeni governorates aiming to improve their living conditions.
In a statement to KUNA, IICO Deputy Director General for Communication Ibrahim Al-Bader, said Thursday that the projects covered several areas, including dairy cattle and sheep breeding, sewing and embroidery, perfume, bukhour and sweets making, operating food carts, watermelon cultivation, barbershops, and printing shops.
Al-Bader explained that the goal of these projects is to help families achieve a steady income after the end of orphan sponsorship and to support their transition from reliance on aid to self-production.
He noted that the projects were selected based on each family's needs and capabilities, in addition to financial support, IICO provided a comprehensive training program for recipients and mothers of orphans, covering project management skills, planning, competition analysis, financial management and marketing to ensure project continuity.
The program represents a model for sustainable community development, as it relied on field studies to identify the most appropriate projects for each case and was implemented in cooperation with local partners. (end)
