WASHINGTON, Aug 6 (KUNA) -- Four people were killed late Tuesday in the US state of Arizona after a medical transport plane crashed and caught fire during landing, local authorities confirmed.
In a statement, Navajo Police Department, said that the aircraft crashed and burst into flames around 12:40 pm, near the Chinle Airport.
It also stated that the four dead were medical personnel, they were there to pick up a patient from a nearby hospital.
The department noted that the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) have launched an investigation into the crash, though the cause remains unknown.
All roads leading to the airport have been closed to facilitate the investigation, while Chinle County Police, Navajo emergency medical services, and fire and rescue teams remain at the scene. (end) asj.sar
