TEHRAN, Aug 4 (KUNA) -- An official from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is expected to visit Iran within the next 10 days, a spokesman for the foreign ministry said on Monday.
"The date for the visit of the senior IAEA official to Tehran has been set and the trip will take place within the next 10 days," Esmaeil Baqaei was quoted as saying by state-run IRNA news agency.
On the core matters scheduled to be discussed amid the forthcoming talks with the UN nuclear watchdog, he said that the "framework" of Tehran's cooperation with the IAEA will be top of the agenda, urging the UN body to act based on its responsibilities and not to be swayed by "political pressure," he said.
Tehran last week said that it is in the process of drafting a new protocol with the UN nuclear watchdog, in line with a decision passed by lawmakers concerning the "nature" of Iran's cooperation with the agency. (end)
