Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh receives US Presidential Adviser for Arab, Middle Eastern, and African affairs Massad Boulos arrived in Tripoli
TUNIS, July 23 (KUNA) -- US Presidential Adviser for Arab, Middle Eastern, and African affairs Massad Boulos arrived in Tripoli from Tunis on Wednesday -- the first senior US visit to Libya since US President Trump assumed office -- to review Libya's dossier at local, regional and international levels.
According to the Libyan News Agency, Boulos is scheduled to meet with Head of the Presidential Council Mohammad Al-Menfi, Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, and Central Bank Governor Siddiq Al-Kabir to discuss US-Libya relations and the latest political and security developments.
He will outline Washington's vision and proposed solutions before traveling to Benghazi later today for similar talks with political and security figures.
Yesterday in Tunis, Tunisian Foreign Minister Mohammad Ali Al-Nafti and Boulos underscored the need for a UN-supervised, Libyan led political settlement that safeguards Libya's security, stability and territorial integrity, according to Tunisia's Foreign Ministry.
The visit follows Libyan worries over media leaks that Washington aims to relocate Palestinians from Gaza to Libya.
On Tuesday, Libya's House of Representatives warned against involving Libya in such plans and reiterated its categorical rejection of any forced resettlement that would undermine the Palestinian cause.
