Kuwait Airways' new (Al Wafra) Airbus A321neo
KUWAIT, July 17 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Airways announced receiving its second new Airbus A321neo, "Al-Wafra," under a nine-aircraft agreement with Airbus.
Kuwait Airways Chairman Abdulmohsen Al-Faqaan said in a press statement on Thursday that the delivery will expand flight capacity and benefit the national carrier, noting that the A321neo offers passengers a comfortable, engaging experience with advanced technology and a varied inflight entertainment system.
He added that all nine A321neos would be received sequentially over the coming years according to the agreed schedule, strengthening Kuwait Airways' fleet with the latest Airbus types.
The aircraft seats 166 passengers -16 in Business Class and 150 in Economy - in a distinctive interior layout, with 9.5-tons in cargo capacity, and provides 20-percent fuel savings, five percent lower airframe maintenance costs, and 14-percent lower in operating costs.
Founded in 1953 as the private Kuwait National Airways Limited, Kuwait Airways operated its first flight on March March 16, 1954. The government of Kuwait acquired 100 percent ownership in 1962. (end)
