NEW YORK, July 16 (KUNA) -- The United Nations expressed its grave concern over reports of attacks on Kordofan area in Sudan, killing more than 300 person including women and children, and injuring far more.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in its latest update late Tuesday mentioned that the attacks took place in villages in Bara locality, North Kordofan State, between July 10 and 13.
It remains difficult to ascertain accurate number of civilians killed as aggression continues and communications in the area are cut off, OCHA added.
The attacks also resulted in setting homes on fire and displacing people.
The UN office reiterated its condemnation to the killing of civilians and targeting infrastructure including schools, homes and shelters, and urged all involved parties to honor their commitment to international humanitarian laws. (end)
