Arab League rallies support for educational process in Palestine

CAIRO, July 15 (KUNA) -- Arab League's Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Palestine and Occupied Arab Territories Sector Ambassador Saeed Abu Ali called for providing Arab and international support to the educational process in Palestine, on Tuesday.
This came in Abu Ali's speech during the (109) session of the committee on educational programs directed at Arab students in occupied Arab territories held via video conference.
Participating were delegations from Jordan, Palestine, Egypt, the Arab States Broadcasting Union, the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
Abu Ali called on all human rights, humanitarian and media institutions to shoulder their responsibilities towards this aggressive war waged by the Israeli occupation against the educational process in Palestine.
Assistant Undersecretary of the Palestinian Ministry of Education, Dr. Ayoub Alian, said in his speech that the path of Palestinian students to schools and universities is riddled with bombs, bullets, shells, and missiles.
He called for support for education in Palestine, amid the longest standing, most profound, and most comprehensive suffering at all levels of the educational process.
The Committee recommended calling for an end to the brutal aggression on Gaza Strip, ending the genocide, allowing the entry of humanitarian aid, and rebuilding Gaza, including resuming the educational process, building schools, providing all necessary supplies, and ensuring international protection.
It stressed that the right to education is one of the basic human rights recognized by international laws.
It called for an end to occupation violations in the West Bank and Jerusalem, which affect access to a safe educational environment and the right to quality education for Palestinian students.
It praised the role played by UNRWA in mitigating the effects of the comprehensive aggression on Gaza and rejecting and condemning all illegal decisions issued by the Israeli occupation.
It also called on donor countries to cover the deficit in the agency's budget so that it can carry out its tasks and programs. (end) mfm.aai
