Kuwait Amb. to US praises KAF efforts in promoting peace, rejecting violence

WASHINGTON, July 14 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Ambassador to the US Sheikha Al-Zain Al-Sabah praised on Monday the important role played by the Kuwait-America Foundation (KFA) in raising awareness among youth about the dangers of violence and promoting peace and understanding between individuals in communities.
This came during a ceremony by the Kuwaiti embassy in Washington to honor 28 middle school students from across the US, who were selected as Ambassadors of Peace for the 2025 "Do the Right Thing" program, established and sponsored by the KAF since 1991.
In her speech, Sheikha Al-Zain said that the KAF provides students with a platform to express themselves through writing on how violence affects their lives, its causes, and what can be done about it "not through revenge, but through voice." She added that the program "represents a tribute to the strong friendship between our countries, which has been strengthened over decades of mutual respect, shared values, and lasting goodwill." In a statement to KUNA, Sheikha Al-Zain said that the program gives students the opportunity to share their writing and stories with US Congress decision-makers, and then deposit those writings in the Library of Congress.
The KAF is a non-profit organization established in 1991 with a primary goal inspired by the liberation of Kuwait from the Iraqi invasion, in recognition of American sacrifices and strong relations between both countries.
The organization's activities focus on education and cultural exchange programs for young people and those in need of care and attention, with the aim of reducing violence in schools and communities across the US. (end) rsr.sas
