China calls on US to cooperate in restoring global trade system

BEIJING, July 14 (KUNA) -- China called on the US, Monday, to work together to prioritize cooperation in developing economic and trade relations between the two countries, to restore the global trade system to a path of fairness and openness and contribute to the recovery and growth of the global economy.
According to China Central Television (CCTV), Wang Lingjun Vice Minister of the General Administration of Customs of China, stated this at a press conference held by the Information Office of the State Council in Beijing to review China's trade achievements during the first half of this year.
Lingjun said during the conference that the working groups of the Chinese and US sides are intensifying efforts to implement the goals outlined during high-level trade talks between the two countries in London on July 9.
He stressed that the consensus reached by the two countries did not come easily but only after strenuous efforts, noting, "There is no way out through blackmail and coercion. Dialogue and cooperation are the right path." Regarding his country's international trade performance, Wang announced that the total value of imports and exports of goods reached CNY 21.79 trillion (about USD 3.04 trillion) during the first half of 2025, registering a 2.9 percent year-on-year growth.
He explained that the volume of exports reached a new record high, exceeding CNY 13 trillion (USD 1.81 trillion) for the first time in China's history, achieving a 7.2 percent increase, while the volume of imports reached CNY 8.79 trillion (USD 1.22 trillion), a decrease of 2.7 percent.
