According to the EU-affiliated service, the heatwave affected several countries including Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, and the UK, with some areas in Portugal and Spain exceeding 40 Degree Celsius.
France experienced its second-warmest June on record, Spain its hottest in 64 years, and England its hottest since 1884, while Iceland and parts of northern Eurasia saw significantly below-average temperatures.
