Egypt reaffirms unwavering support for Palestine

CAIRO, June 30 (KUNA) -- Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdulatty reaffirmed, Monday, the country's steadfast support for Palestinian people and the legitimate rights. According to a statement by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, the remarks came during a phone call between Abdulatty and his Palestinian counterpart Varsen Aghabekian. The two officials discussed Egypt's ongoing efforts, in coordination with Qatar and the United States to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza as well as ensuring unhindered humanitarian aid access. Abdulatty expressed Egypt's readiness to host an international conference on early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza as soon as a ceasefire agreement is reached.
He condemned Israeli occupation's continuous attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians from their land calling it a blatant violations of international and humanitarian law, denouncing the aggression against innocent civilians.
He reaffirmed Egypt's commitment of expanding international recognition of Palestine and establishing a Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
For her part, Palestinian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Varsen Aghabekian expressed deep appreciation for Egypt's stance, and commending the leadership's ongoing efforts. (end) aff.sar
