TEHRAN, June 24 (KUNA) -- An Israeli occupation assault on a residential area in Astaneh-ye Ashrafiyeh city, in the northern province of Gilan, left nine people dead and 33 wounded including women and children, said Iranian authorities on Tuesday.
Gilan province official Ali Baqri told official Iranian media outlets that the attack also resulted in complete destruction of four residential buildings in addition to damage to private properties.
Since June 13, Tehran and other Iranian cities were struck by Israeli occupation military, prompting Iran to retaliate with a barrage of missiles against Israeli occupation territories.
Three nuclear facilities in Iran were targeted by US airstrikes last Sunday in an operation deemed as a "success" by US President Donald Trump.
Trump announced earlier a ceasefire between Iran and the Israeli occupation after what he dubbed as the "12 Day War."
Iranian official television said that Tehran had forced the Israeli occupation military to accept the ceasefire agreement.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in an X statement that Iran would abide by the ceasefire agreement if the Israeli aggressors ceased its illegitimate attack on the Iranian people. (end)
