Oman reiterates diplomatic push for Mideast de-escalation

MUSCAT, June 17 (KUNA) -- Oman on Tuesday said it is committed towards diplomatic efforts aiming to de-escalate the Middle East conflict, at a time where Israeli occupation forces have repeatedly launched attacks against Iran.
Such efforts fall in line with the Gulf Arab Sultanate's firm policy based on constructive dialogue and adherence to international laws and principles, subsequently solidifying Muscat's position as a "trusted mediator" in regional conflicts, according to a foreign ministry statement.
The statement comes a day after extraordinary Gulf Cooperation Council talks on a foreign ministerial level, in which the six-member bloc condemned the Israeli attacks on Tehran, slamming these events as "flagrant violations" of international laws.
Oman's Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi has intensified talks with his counterparts from the region and beyond in a bid to shore up diplomacy towards de-escalating the violence and halting the Israeli attacks on Iran, added the statement. (end) nfa.nam
