Kuwait diplomat warns of conflict spillover due to Israeli occupation attack on Iran

VIENNA, June 16 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Permanent Representative at International Organizations in Vienna and Chairman of the Gulf Group Ambassador Talal Al-Fassam cautioned Monday conflict spillover in the region would trigger bare consequences on regional and international peace.
Al-Fassam gave the warning in a speech he delivered on behalf of the GCC during an emergency session of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors regarding Israeli occupation aggressions on Iran.
He condemned the Israeli occupation's attacks against the Islamic Republic of Iran, including a number of nuclear facilities, saying, "This attack comes at a very sensitive time, as international efforts to resume nuclear negotiations between Iran and the US are intensifying." He underlined that this could derail the diplomatic process and ignite a wider conflict that would have serious impacts on regional and international peace.
Al-Fassam voiced extreme concern over this serious escalation that would cause adverse reflections on regional security and stability.
He cautioned that such hostilities mark a serious violation of an IAEA member state's sovereignty and a serious precedent that undermines international law rules, mainly the principle of respect of state's sovereignty and preventing use or threat of force.
He also reiterated the GCC member countries' unwavering commitment to backing regional security and stability and categorically rejecting any violation of states' sovereignty or targeting of their nuclear facilities under any pretext. (end) amg.mt
