ANKARA, June 11 (KUNA) -- Turkiye will produce and export some 48 of its KAAN national combat aircraft to Indonesia under a new defense agreement, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Wednesday, hailing it as a "record" deal.
"I hope this agreement, which highlights the progress and achievements of our domestic and national defense industry, will be beneficial for both Turkiye and Indonesia," Erdogan said in a post on social media platform X.
The agreement will aim to promote knowledge sharing and the development of local capabilities through "strategic cooperation between Turkiye and Indonesia," state-run Anadolu news agency reported.
Turkiye's KAAN is the first domestically-made fifth generation fighter jet, having completed its maiden flight last year. (end)
